Public Roundtable on National Homeownership Month

In this testimony before the Council of the District of Columbia, Peter Tatian, senior researcher in the Urban Institutes Metropolitan Housing and Communities Policy Center and director of NeighborhoodInfo DC, presents recent data showing that, while the foreclosure mediation law passed by the Council in November 2010 has significantly slowed the foreclosure process, many Washington, D.C., homeowners remain troubled. These data suggest that the city should continue to take steps to protect homeowners, renters, and neighborhoods from the negative impacts of foreclosures.
